757 Skytop Road

Aero Plantation is a neighborhood of custom homes (some as old as the ’60’s) built on acreages and the neighborhood feeds to Weddington Schools. It is located between Weddington Road and New Town Road with Twelve Mile Creek bordering to the east.

Aero Plantation has an airstrip and covered tie-downs for aircraft.  In addition, there is a 3 hole golf course, there are multiple ponds, and some residents have airplane hangars on their property and some have horses and barns.

The listings currently range from $998,000 – $1.5M.

This property viewed on Skytop is situated on almost 9 acres and is just over 6,000 square feet in size and comes with a pool and “futuristic” hangar-like carport.

It was the original house in the neighborhood and was built in 1964.  It is a wonderful example of Mid-Century architecture and most of it is original. When viewed it was temporarily off the market but the list price is $998,000.

My client was interested in the property for the land, the school district zone and because he likes this type of architecture and does not mind fixing up a property.  However, the property is a very big project as not much can remain as it is mostly original to the build date of 1964.  Also the land is rolling and hilly and mostly treed so it does not work for his purposes.

The home is definitely in need of a complete renovation/rehab and will be a great project for someone looking to flip a potentially high-end property with some historical value.  It is too big a project for my client so he decided to pass.

P.S. Would it even be Mid-Century if it didn’t have wood paneling?  And what’s up with these state of the art lights :O
